Pros

Great opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies.

Opportunity to work with some incredibly smart people.

Good mentors to help you grow professionally (depending on your team/division).

Good benefits.

Decent salary.

Better than average benefits.

Cons

Work/Life balance could be an issue, particularly during "bringups" and other shipment deadlines.

Upper management can sometimes be disconnected from reality.

Career growth is slower in remote sites compared to San Diego.

For Software Engineers, your skillset might stagnate if you are not careful about choosing your work.

Decisions can be political, affecting mostly Sr. Staff and above.

Advice to Management
  • Work on employee morale (beyond namesake efforts such as climate surveys).
  • Ensure a fair review process, with some type of "ombudsman" to redress employee issues. Although systems are in place now, most employees do not trust them.
