To be clear, I simply backed out of the interview process. I was not declined, nor did I reject any offers. My interactions with the people there on calls were great; they seem like nice and decent people, so no complaints there.

I backed out entirely because of the technical interview process. It was just LeetCode, with maybe a tiny amount of non-LeetCode problems.

All LeetCode gauges is if you're good at LeetCode. I applied for a position that had absolutely nothing to do with it. A live coding interview would have been fine, if it was relevant to the role.

The invite encouraged you to "brush up" on your algorithm-solving skills, using practice interviews on CodeSignal or books. I am not in college anymore, and I solve real-world problems, so I don't see how this exercise is relevant. Don't expect people to practice pointless exercises for hours upon days. Brainteaser problems can be fun and engaging to do in your own time. They do not belong in interviews. Frankly, no one should accept this kind of interview process.
