I applied for the job posting from a jobs website. I got an automated reply instantly and another one a few weeks later asking me to complete an online coding test. I took the coding test, which was a question about intersecting rectangles. I'd seen this before here on Glassdoor. I submitted my answer and then, about a week or two later, I received another email requesting me to fill out a large survey and prep for a Skype interview.

I did not reply back and decided not to pursue the interview for the following reasons:

• The online coding test is silly and anyone can cheat on it.
• Survey questions gave me an insight that they are looking for grunt workers.
• The majority of the reviews of Rakuten on Glassdoor are very negative.
• Emphasis on point 3.
