Senior Frontend Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

There was a coding test when I applied for the job. It seemed straightforward enough.

It took me around 20-25 minutes to get it done to the exact specifications they wanted.

I received a very generic rejection email after a week. This shows that the company doesn't respect candidates' time and is trying to be the belle of the ball, wanting all suitors to try as hard as they can.

This was one of the weirdest application experiences ever.

If they want their applicants to go through hoops like this, I can't imagine how they treat their employees. I wouldn't recommend a workplace like this, which could be a disaster for work-life balance.

Questions

I was given a Base64 encoded string that resolved to a URL pointing to a webpage.

This webpage presented a set of very simple, yet convoluted, requirements.

Essentially, it provided another webpage, and the task was to navigate its elements to find and extract another link.

That link revealed the word 'treasure,' which then had to be typed out using a typewriter effect on a code sandbox project.

Finally, the link to this project was to be submitted with the application.
