Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

May 1, 2023
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

They include a poorly worded take-home assignment on their application. This assignment takes a decent amount of time and effort, and even when completed accurately (including bonus questions), no recruiter call or first-round interview was offered.

If you are going to include an assignment on the application, let that be the bar for at least a recruiter screen. Otherwise, it's just a waste of time and disrespectful to the candidates.

Questions

They provide a URL with a blank page. You need to traverse the DOM to find another URL with a secret word. Then, create a React component in CodeSandbox that makes a fetch request to that URL and renders the word in a very specific manner.
