Pros
  1. One of the most employee-centric companies in terms of the right to be heard and good perks.

  2. Don't like anything in the company? You're free to discuss it with your manager or HR.

  3. Lunch and evening snacks are provided. Dinner is also available if you stay late. Lunch is not good sometimes, and evening snacks are mostly not healthy.

  4. There's a pool table and an Xbox. Good for those who play.

  5. ESOP buybacks happened twice, which is appreciable and shows transparency in what they've offered to their employees.

  6. The office is colorful.

  7. Most people here have good skills.

  8. Now, we have massage chairs.

Cons

Transition from startup to mature startup is still in phase. Things are getting better.

  • TT table coming soon, I guess.
  • Meetings are kept on any of the 5+ floors, but the lift is very slow.
  • Flexi employee benefits are not available. Medical insurance is a waste for me, as most people always have their personal medical insurance, which is of much higher value than the provider's.
  • We've an ESOPs portal, but no option to exercise vested ESOPs. You can only see details.
  • Growth is slow, unlike in a small startup. Opportunities for growth are slowed down because quality projects that can demonstrate your skills are not always available. So, you grow here based on how fast the tide is in your team.
  • Tired of parking space issues. Have to pay and park in the Forum sometimes.
  • People don't use Slack responsibly. They keep tagging all day without knowing the relevant POC.
  • Give employee performance feedback regularly.
  • Some people need to take ownership and make decisions themselves rather than pushing them to work.
  • The review cycle is extended by 1 month.
  • You don't get a bonus for the entire duration if you leave in the last month.

Such parts are messed up as the team size scaled exponentially in 1.5 years. The good thing is Razorpay is open to improving things.

Advice to Management
  1. Should consider flexible employee benefits. The medical insurance component should be optional to convert into a cash component (best), health-related perks, commute-related expenses, etc. Most people already have personal medical insurance, so this is a waste.

  2. How to exercise vested ESOPs?

  3. Keep up the good work.
