A 30-minute telephone interview was followed by sending in my written answers to three competency questions.
The next stage was the assessment centre, which took place in the office in Farnborough (not far from Reading/London).
The day was very insightful.
There were 3 assessed tasks during the day.
The first consisted of a group exercise to begin with, where you have about 30 minutes to complete it.
Next (for me, anyway – you get given a schedule of your day), there was a presentation prep session where you are given 4 choices of topics to choose from for your assessed presentation later in the day.
The other assessment was the instructions writing task, which is self-explanatory really – you're writing instructions based on a specific topic.
Lunch was provided.
Recruiters were super helpful and tried to make you as comfortable as possible.
There were also 2 insight sessions during the day where you interact with people who work in your field/have experience at Red Hat.
My advice: RELISH this opportunity. Ask questions about day-to-day activities, what things you'd be getting on with, development opportunities, etc., so that you can really try to imagine yourself in such a role.
