Process

Application followed by a 30-minute telephone interview where you're asked about your background and some competency-based questions. If you're successful in that, you're invited to their Farnborough offices for an assessment centre.

The day started with a group exercise where you worked in a team to follow a customer's requirements. It seemed to be assessing how well you can deal with changing requirements (Red Hat is a major proponent of Agile methodologies) as well as working with a team to gather requirements.

The next session was an interview. You were asked competency-based questions relative to the role. Try and think about what you want to present to the interviewer. If you study a degree with a final project, it's likely they'll ask about that.

The final two assessments were a presentation and an instructions-based task. The presentation was pretty difficult. They give you a few topics and around 30 minutes to prepare a 10-minute presentation. It could also be whatever you want, but it's probably beneficial to discuss technology at a technology company. The instructions-based task was working in pairs or threes to devise a set of instructions to a question.

Failed, but was given a breakdown of what went well and what could go better over the phone, which is much appreciated.
