Process

I received a CodeSignal test about a week later. I solved 3 out of 4 problems completely and got most of the test cases to pass on the fourth.

A week after that, I was contacted by a recruiter for a phone interview. The recruiter didn't show up for the initial interview, so it had to be rescheduled, and I waited another week. I spoke with the recruiter for 15 minutes, and they seemed to like me. The recruiter mentioned that my resume would be passed to the hiring manager.

I followed up once a week for the next two weeks. On the third week after the phone conversation with the recruiter, they messaged me to say my resume had not been chosen by the hiring manager.

While that's fine, I don't really understand the purpose of talking to the recruiter. Why couldn't I have just been rejected by the manager? Instead, I had to wait 3-4 weeks just to get rejected.
