Process

Two phone interviews.

The first was a primarily behavioral and experiential interview in the form of a conversation with an engineering lead from a different group. The second was a technical interview with an engineer from the intended group.

Both engineers were kind, asked excellent questions, and were clearly quite intelligent.

Gave thoughtful and thorough answers to questions about the project, company, culture, and goals.

Questions

Where are the locations of max shear and bending moment on a simply supported beam with a distributed load?

How would you vary beam area as a function of length to maximize strength?

How would you select the cross-sectional shape and beam material?

Was this helpful?
