Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York
Process
Extremely long but well-organized process.
- Recruiter call
- Soft skills call (they ask about your strengths and weaknesses with communication and teamwork)
- Take-home technical question to submit online
If you score high enough, you do a tech interview where they go over your answer in detail. Once passing that, it's a panel interview (it would be on campus, but it was virtual due to COVID) consisting of two more soft skills interviews and two more technical interviews.
They seem to care more about your personality and social skills over your technical skills, but their questions are fairly difficult, and they expect a lot.
Overall, probably the most enjoyable and well-organized interview process I've ever gone through. Everyone was very passionate and easy to talk to.

Leadership favors hiring at the highest levels but doesn't manage to fill out our ranks with promising associate/mid-levels. Half the people they hire don't end up performing. It feels like every director just fills out principal roles like Supreme Court justices. Vertical. DEI kinda sucks. Teams aren't very diverse, especially in design and engineering. Everyone is white or East Asian, and basically no women.

In Q1, you are forced to enter "death note" goals for the year. In Q2 and Q3, there is a check-in, with only "on track" or "need improvement" options. Your manager can enter notes however they want, and you can be impacted at any time. Q4 is the annual review, where a manager can write anything and put you on "not meet."
