I had an initial call with a recruiter who was really friendly. After that, we scheduled a one-hour technical phone screen. I want to note that the recruiter told me during our conversation that the interview was going to be on React and specifically mentioned that Rivian isn’t a huge fan of LeetCode questions. Even a couple of days before the interview, I double-checked with another recruiting coordinator, and she also confirmed it’s a React interview. I decided to interview specifically because I wouldn’t be tested on data structures and algorithms.
The interview came around, and the person who joined said, “Yeah, we aren’t going to be doing React today,” and pulled up a LeetCode question. Given that I didn’t prepare at all for this sort of interview, I struggled and then got rejected.
It was really disappointing how the recruiter didn’t give correct information, even after I double-checked. Even if I were to move on, I would choose not to. I can’t trust the hiring process at all.
