A recruiter emailed me to schedule an interview for the position of Structural Design Engineer at Rivian. As a diligently interested candidate, I provided my availability for the following afternoon, which the recruiter confirmed. Being a working professional, I cleared my schedule for this interview and made the required preparations. The following day, early morning, the recruiter emailed me saying that the position was being filled and therefore my interview would be canceled without speaking with me. In my career, I have never been so disappointed by an interview process as I have with Rivian's. This indicates miscommunication within the company, and that the recruiting department is incompetent in its job.

To Rivian: Please do not get candidates excited about an interview only to reject them without an initial conversation. It is unjust, disrespectful, and dishonorable on your part. If you send out an invite, then you must ensure you respect the candidate's time and efforts.

A word of caution to candidates interviewing at Rivian: please re-confirm with the recruiter if they are genuinely interested in interviewing you and would not pull a stunt like this one. Rivian has failed in providing a good recruiting experience.
