Rivian's product is pretty amazing. People working on the ground are highly motivated, hard workers, and determined. Good pay.
Rivian has the most toxic leadership that I've come across in the last 10 years of professional engineering. My experience echoes others. Their leadership is focused on putting up roadblocks, injecting unnecessary bureaucracy, and surrounding themselves in an echo chamber. My senior manager was unable to let anyone on their team execute their job without micromanaging them. His actions felt discriminatory to me and the other women on the team. When I tried to address these concerns up the chain of command, they fell on deaf ears. I had a senior director tell me I was being a "drama queen." Come to find out that not only were it me and the other women on my team, these behaviors were echoed from other internal teams as well as external resources. Their leadership fails all the way up to RJ if they are unable to hold lower-level leaders accountable.
Get rid of your toxic leadership and promote your hard workers.
