I encountered an unpleasant and discriminatory incident that I feel compelled to address. While I respect the need to maintain confidentiality, it is crucial to shed light on the issue to foster a fair and inclusive environment.
Throughout the interview process, I experienced unprofessional conduct from the interviewer. The individual in question made unwarranted personal attacks and baseless accusations, asserting that I was being offensive and impolite. This left me perplexed, as I had been focused solely on the coding challenge and had not uttered any rude or disrespectful remarks.
Despite offering apologies and explanations, the interviewer persisted with their offensive behavior. Moreover, during the interview, I found myself frequently interrupted by the interviewer, who insisted on correcting my grammar and talking about their personal stories. This unwarranted intervention disrupted my thought process and proved to be a major distraction. The overall experience left me feeling unsupported and hindered in my ability to perform at my best.
Additionally, the interviewer's discriminatory comments towards non-native English speakers were deeply disheartening. Their statement regarding a preference for candidates who speak English contradicts the values that Robinhood claims to uphold. The company's commitment to diversity, equal opportunity, and embracing a multitude of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as clearly stated in the job description, stands in stark contrast to the interviewer's remarks.
It is important to emphasize that as a non-native English speaker, I have successfully navigated numerous rounds of interviews, providing ample evidence of my English proficiency and ability to contribute effectively.
Despite raising my concerns, the response received thus far has been unsatisfactory. The lack of apology and meaningful resolution has left me disappointed and compelled to take further action to defend my rights.
Consequently, I have decided to report this incident to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and share my experience on platforms such as Glassdoor. By doing so, I hope to raise awareness about the toxic culture I encountered during the interview process at Robinhood.
Transparency and accountability are essential in building a fair and inclusive workplace. It is my sincere hope that my experience prompts Robinhood to introspect and take the necessary steps to rectify these issues, ensuring a more respectful and supportive environment for all candidates.
Thank you for your attention.
