Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Mateo, California

Process

I recently interviewed at Roblox for a senior developer position. The interview process for Roblox is very unique and, frankly, quite foolish.

They have eight interviews, and for remote candidates, all of them happen in one day. Usually, interviews have themes like coding, design, and behavioral aspects, with each interview lasting 60 minutes so the interviewer can assess each area. However, in the Roblox interview, every single interview is a behavioral interview.

Each time, a new interviewer comes in and asks the same questions: "Why do you want to join Roblox?" and "Tell me about your current company." This typically takes about 15 minutes. Overall, 15 minutes * 8 interviews equals roughly 120 minutes spent on this, and it is really annoying to repeat the same information eight times.

Instead of this, they could have one interview to assess these points, and the rest of them could focus on other areas.

The interview questions themselves were not very difficult.

What is the point of having eight identical interviews? It's simply ridiculous.

I would not recommend someone waste their time with this company's peculiar interview process.
