Failing middle management

Senior Software Engineer • Current Employee

San Mateo, California, United States

October 6, 2018

Pros: Popular products, happy customers :)

Cons: Unprofessional middle management. New people are hired at a higher level while they are nowhere near a match for most of the senior engineers. In some cases, people with almost zero experience are hired at a similar or higher level than people with 10+ years of experience. That's how failed management makes existing employees seek other opportunities elsewhere.

Pros: - Some good orgs and leaders - Good pay and benefits

Cons: - Company is heading in the wrong direction, focusing on social features rather than games. - Leadership cannot be trusted; they change their minds on policies.

Little room for management

Senior Software Engineer • Former Employee

San Mateo, California, United States

November 21, 2023

Pros: - Salary is above market average.

Cons: No way to break into management. Was told that they only hire from outside. RTO policy is ridiculous, especially if they keep talking about inventing the "future of remote work".
