Process

Aptitude/IQ Test - Red Flag

The take-home assessment was supposed to be completed within 2 hours. However, they also wanted it to be containerized, deal with edge cases, and have tests. The work itself was not that difficult, but the setup (a server), containerization, and making sure there was adequate testing definitely took up more than two hours' worth of time.

Give this assignment to any engineer who hasn't worked with Docker or set up their own server in a while, and see if they can actually do this in the allotted time.

Onsite - System Design

The system design was standard, and the interview question was difficult but doable. However, one of my interviewers really seemed like he didn't want to be there and could not care less about what I was saying. This was very off-putting from an applicant's perspective. The rest of my interviewers were friendly and felt like they wanted to see me succeed.
