My phone interview for a senior engineer position took place a few months ago. I have close to 11 years of experience in the industry.
The person who was going to interview me had perhaps 3-4 years of experience.
The interviewer presented the question and asked me to walk through the algorithm. It was a reasonably non-trivial question. I described the algorithm and started writing code.
I began by writing the function signature and started to implement the code. The interviewer interrupted me at this point and asked, "Really, is that how you write code?"
I was taken aback, as I don't usually encounter this level of arrogance in an engineer. I guess he was expecting me to define a class and then declare it as a private method.
At this point, I had lost interest in the interview because it gave me the impression that the company had a lousy culture. I implemented the solution (kind of) and told him I was done.
He wasn't impressed, but I couldn't care less.
