Process

A friend recommended me to the Japanese office of the company. A few days later, I received an email and had a quick discussion with the recruiter about the position. Afterwards, I met with a current CSA here in Tokyo.

The Tokyo-based interview was primarily for assessing language skills and also included a personality test. The interviewer was honest, straightforward, and very easy to talk to. I expressed some concerns about the future of the company, and they were able to clarify and address those concerns.

Next, I had an interview with the team in Britain and my future manager. It was scheduled for a 2-hour conversation, but it ended up being two and a half hours, during which I discussed my background, participated in a role-play, and finally asked questions about the job.

Finally, there was a 4-hour development test, followed by a presentation to the Heroku CSA team. The development aspect was not difficult at all, but the presentation required significant time and imagination to prepare.

(In retrospect, I think I overdid the presentation; I believe they were a bit surprised by its length.)

I received an offer less than three days after the last interview.

Questions

During a role-play exercise, I was asked to diagnose a customer's website problem. The issue was that the website was "slow." My task was to ask clarifying questions while ensuring the client remained satisfied with his situation.
