Senior Java Developer Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

Process

I had a 15-30 minute interview with a recruiter.

Then I had a 30-minute interview with the hiring manager.

Next, there was an online coding assessment. This involved a 30-minute conversation with the interviewer, followed by a 2-hour implementation period. This timeframe is not enough to write a program without compile errors, execute it without errors, implement all business requirements, and incorporate good design principles (OOP, patterns, etc.). During the coding assessment, you share your screen so they can see what you're doing. Therefore, ensure you have a second screen that they cannot see.

After I finished my online coding and submitted it, I was called in. I then heard two architects laughing heartily about my coding and me. It was highly unprofessional and insulting!

I would never recommend anyone work for a company where architects are so arrogant and show no respect to developers. I am glad I did not receive an offer from the company.

I have past experience where coworkers with higher titles/positions than me showed a lack of respect for others, which negatively impacted my motivation and the product quality.

Incidentally, the project itself did not involve cutting-edge technologies; they utilize an Apex development tool and some proprietary frameworks.

Questions

The task was to write a program with several features.

One of the features was the installation/uninstallation of applications and keeping track of dependencies.
