Process

I applied for a Full-Stack/Front-End Software Engineer position. Unlike Google, Salesforce first selects teams that may be interested and has them reach out to you and interview you on-site. After a HackerRank screen, two teams were interested in talking to me on-site, so I had a double day booked.

The day consisted of approximately seven hours of interviews, alternating between the two teams.

The questions were relatively straightforward. One team focused on practical JavaScript questions, including finding bugs and understanding its peculiarities. The second team was more abstract, asking about design decisions for building an instrumentation system and posing a graph-related question. Finally, I had a broader discussion with the engineering lead about the tradeoffs between different technical decisions for building a particular system.

Overall, it was a great experience. One thing to note is that Salesforce is a heavily remote company, so a number of interviews were conducted remotely, which was not an issue at all.
