I had a couple of on-site interviews. An employee referred me to his SVP, and they called me for a one-on-one meeting with him, followed by a full round of interviews. It seemed like things were changing at the time, so the process didn't move very much, as I was interviewing for a senior leadership role.

Pros: I had an incredible experience, opportunities to grow, and empowerment to own my area and add value.
Cons: Even at the best companies, bad managers can slip through the cracks. In my time there, I heard the occasional horror story from others. Then it happened to me when, after a reorg, I got the manager from hell. Long story short, I left after two years.
