Pros
  • Managers actually care about your success.

  • Three times a year, there is an internal job fair where you can switch teams if you want to try something new.

  • There's a culture of having 1:1 coffee chats with virtually anyone in the company. You can speak with coworkers, VPs, people from other fields, etc.

  • Salesforce owns a TON of startups and is buying more every day. You get to attend tech talks from these companies during lunch and talk with them afterward.

  • Salesforce spoils the interns with events, swag, and attention.

  • Recruiters are incredibly responsive and stay with you for the duration of the internship.

Cons

If you're under 21, expect to be alienated from pretty much most of the intern and after-work (some during-work) events. :)

Advice to Management

Salesforce is by far NOT a sexist place to work (tons of internal activist groups, such as FemmeForce). However, it's still overwhelmingly male-dominated.

Women who do work at Salesforce seem to mostly come from previous generations before the gender ratio in education got so bad.

Advice would be to continue to heavily recruit women (Grace Hopper Conference is fantastic) so that recent-grads/millennial women have a comfortable community of friends to hang out with at/after work when they're first entering the workforce.
