A Samsara recruiter reached out a couple of weeks after I applied for a short discussion about the role. I spoke with them the next day. The following day, the recruiter set up a time with the hiring manager for the following week.

I had an hour-long talk with the hiring manager, mainly discussing the role and my experiences. A few behavioral-type questions were slipped in. It was pretty relaxed. The hiring manager was kind of new to the company, and we looked up information about the company together.

The recruiter set me up with a member of the team for a 45-minute live coding screen. I could pick the language I wanted to use. It wasn't a LeetCode-type question, which was nice. I signed an NDA, so I can't get into the specifics of the coding question.

They wanted to move forward to the final stage, which was a "virtual onsite" interview, consisting of three sessions that included another live coding, system design, and behavioral interviews.

Unfortunately, they hired someone else for the role while I was waiting for the onsite interview. Luckily, another group within Samsara wanted to move forward with the interview process.

I talked with that hiring manager but realized I wasn't really interested in the role and withdrew my application.

Everyone was really nice and helpful throughout the process. It was a good experience. The whole process took about 1.5 months.
