Samsara uses Brighthire for interviews, where they record your answers. The process takes about one month, mostly due to interviewer unavailability or delays in gathering feedback. There are typically six rounds, except for the final one with HR if you clear all six. You will likely have a good experience with the first five interview rounds until you reach the sixth with a Sr. Director. Unfortunately, the feedback given by him was based on something he did not ask in the interview. His body language seemed quite disengaging and uninterested during the entire 30 minutes, with behaviors like yawning multiple times and checking his phone. This could be a unique situation, but it was saddening to see that kind of attitude from leadership, especially when you have sincerely prepared and dedicated significant time to learn about Samsara. It is very difficult to understand what he expected, as his expectations were not well-aligned with other interviewers or the questions asked. When scheduling interviews, they mention the topics to prepare and ask to be aligned with company values. However, in the last round, the questions deviated from these topics and focused more on automation strategy. This seemed quite irrelevant considering the job title provided and the types of questions asked in earlier interview rounds. It appears there's a mismatch of expectations between the other interviewers and the Sr. Director. This is a request to maintain transparency regarding expectations from the beginning of the interview process so that candidates do not have to go through many rounds only to be rejected in the end.
