Pros

Salary and additional benefits are good.

Cons

These are strictly my opinions as a foreigner working there for 2 years.

  1. Language problem (a very few people can understand/speak English).
  2. Cultural differences that affect work (we are expected to work like Koreans).
  3. Food (being a vegetarian), I can't survive without cooking at home; office food is crap.
  4. Strict 9-hour working time.
  5. Can't go out of the office without a long approval chain, even in case of emergency.
  6. No sick leaves; you need to use leaves from your annual vacation pool.
  7. Can't apply for vacation of more than 2 weeks (you are not expected to take more than 2 weeks), even if you have a larger vacation pool.
  8. No information is shared with us (i.e., the road map of the division, future plans, etc.).
  9. Again, all communication (emails, technical meetings, code review sessions) is in Korean; you have to learn to live with this.
Advice to Management

If you are hiring foreigners, you need to use English as the communication medium. Please don't expect us to learn Korean and get used to your culture.
