They rejected me with an automatic email. Almost two weeks later, I received another email stating, "We rejected you because of your location. If you are willing to relocate here, can you please go through the exercise?"
This is the biggest lie I have ever heard because I already indicated that I am willing to relocate. (We are in the same country!). They probably couldn't find enough interns for this Winter term and decided to test applicants from "non-big-title universities and colleges." Of course, our process was different than others. As you may know, the normal intern interview process is quite different if you are a student at a big-title university.
(Also, you can take a look at intern interview reviewers here).
They sent me the exercise, which was prepared very weakly. The questions were extremely vague, and there was no example (input and output) for some of them. By the way, the exercise was on a Firebase application.
Anyway, I couldn't understand some of the questions but submitted them. Then, I sent an email to them saying, "I didn't understand Question X and Y." Their answer was great: "Question X and Y were JavaScript questions." Really? No comment. I wish I hadn't wasted three hours.
CSS practical question.
Two vague JavaScript questions.
