I was contacted directly by HR. I was told there would be two technical rounds, one manager round, and one HR round.
I completed my first technical interview. It went well and lasted for one and a half hours. I felt confident about a positive outcome. Most of the questions were related to the product I had worked on and the design methodologies I had used. There were also some architectural questions about how I would design solutions for specific problems.
I was scheduled for another day for my second technical interview. This also went well, lasting for one and a half hours, and I felt it would be a positive outcome as well. The questions focused on my current role and projects, with two to three architectural questions included.
On the same day as the second technical round, I met with the hiring manager. The discussion lasted for two and a half hours. This round was quite different, and the manager made me feel very comfortable. It wasn't heavily technical; instead, it focused on my interests, work expectations, and why I was interested in SAP Labs. I was asked about four to five mathematical concepts, such as integration and differentiation, and their practical applications. It was genuinely interesting, and the manager helped me work through them. He was very clear about his expectations and requirements. He mentioned he would need some time to provide the results.
After leaving the campus, I received an email from HR an hour later, asking me to fill out a candidature form. I was surprised, as the manager had indicated he would need a couple of days to finalize.
Following that, there was no further communication. I emailed after a week to inquire about the status. HR called me and informed me that I needed to undergo another technical round to finalize the offer. He explained that for this senior architect role, an additional check was necessary. He convinced me, and I agreed to proceed.
The third technical round then took place. The questions again focused on my current projects: What design patterns have you used? How did you scale your application? How would you write a microservices module? I performed very well in this round as well.
Afterward, HR informed me that they needed to discuss with the hiring manager again and would update me on the status regardless. I'm uncertain about the outcome. Nevertheless, for me, it was a truly good experience.
What design patterns have you used? Explain them with your project examples.
