Pros: Good 401k matching. Good place to learn about enterprise software.

Cons: Significantly low pay compared to other jobs in the Bay Area. No clear company agenda. Too many managers, which create a huge disconnect. Many managers are unqualified, and upper management only cares about numbers, not results. Trust in management is super low, especially after the huge layoffs in March. The tech stack is old and becoming obsolete. Progress is slow. Unless you’re planning on retiring soon, staying for more than a few years at SAP is career suicide. That’s a reason why many employees have a hard time leaving the company. Those who do end up leaving for MS, Salesforce, Workday, etc.

Pros: - You get plenty of time to complete the work. - Flexible work-from-home options. - Lots of opportunities for fellowships. - People are friendly and helpful. - Good work-life balance. - Lots of fun activities organized for employees and their families.

Cons: - Compensation is very poor for the standards of the Bay Area. - No learning from work after a few months. - The tech stack is still old. - Managers are not clear about the goals and often repeat whatever upper management says. - Every team has a resource crunch always. - Food from Foccacia sucks (SuccessFactors SSF).

Pros: Good compensation and benefits package

Cons: From my personal experience working in the SAP SuccessFactors Engineering department, I feel there is a huge, ongoing problem with diversity. Most of the Dev and QA management are Indian, as well as many of the team members they prefer to hire. Many Indians get hired on the spot without going through the official interview process, simply because they are relatives or friends of those managers. This makes it difficult for other applicants to be considered for a position. There is a lot of politics involved in processes, project assignments, promotions, etc. The number of meetings during business hours, as well as non-business hours, is abnormal. Engineers can’t focus on their tasks because they are always distracted by meetings and have to catch up on projects at night. Evening meetings do not contribute to a healthy work-personal life balance and take away quality family time.
