SAP Work Experiences

Student Vocational Training Intern

Software Engineer (Internship) • Current Employee

Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, United States

August 10, 2021

Pros: Interesting work, professional co-workers, great benefits such as a lunch stipend and an in-company gym. As an intern, I felt treated like a real employee instead of an intern. A good place to intern at if you find a team that knows what they are doing.

Cons: Depends heavily on which team you are on. Some teams allow you to do meaningful work that follows industry standards, while some other teams do not. I'm interested in software development, but a lot of tech stacks are proprietary (understandable, since it's a corporation). There are not a lot of jobs related to SE in the Eastern US.

Learned A Lot, Some Autonomy

Software Engineer (Internship) • Former Employee

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

November 3, 2019

Pros: - Relaxed working environment. - Lots of opportunities for learning. - Experience can vastly differ from team to team, so you get the chance to move.

Cons: No cons. The company structure felt very top-down back then, and maybe not a lot of autonomy for individual teams.

Hard to say, fixed comments on SAP China

Senior Developer • Former Employee

Shanghai, Shanghai, China

Pros: Work-life balance and company culture are good.

Cons: Fewer opportunities for position upgrades, and it's hard to join the small communities of old SAPers who have been working in one company for over 15 years. Even managers have prejudice against newcomers.
