Process

I was contacted by HR to set up an interview.

However, the interviewer missed the scheduled interview, and I had to contact them again to set up another one.

During the rescheduled interview, one of the interviewers seemed like he was falling asleep, constantly yawning and not showing much interest in the process.

SAP Work Experiences

Learned A Lot, Some Autonomy

Software Engineer (Internship) • Former Employee

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

November 3, 2019

Pros: - Relaxed working environment. - Lots of opportunities for learning. - Experience can vastly differ from team to team, so you get the chance to move.

Cons: No cons. The company structure felt very top-down back then, and maybe not a lot of autonomy for individual teams.

Student Vocational Training Intern

Software Engineer (Internship) • Current Employee

Pros: Interesting work, professional co-workers, great benefits such as a lunch stipend and an in-company gym. As an intern, I felt treated like a real employee instead of an intern. A good place to intern at if you find a team that knows what they are doing.

Cons: Depends heavily on which team you are on. Some teams allow you to do meaningful work that follows industry standards, while some other teams do not. I'm interested in software development, but a lot of tech stacks are proprietary (understandable, since it's a corporation). There are not a lot of jobs related to SE in the Eastern US.

no room for growth

Agile Developer Intern • Former Employee

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Pros: Really great culture. Everyone is super nice and willing to help out.

Cons: - Manager does not care about interns or try to support their growth. - Assigns them the same tasks as senior software developers and sets expectations that they don't even get from senior developers.
