Platform teams are good. But don't join CLOUD INFRA teams. Decent salary, but not at par with Amazon or Microsoft.
There's a lot of favoritism and a bullying culture. He's only sending his favorites onsite, just to roam around other destinations instead of doing any actual work.
Director's favorites enjoy a lot of flexibility, which is not applicable to others, especially new joiners. They can come at any time (mostly post-lunch), have unlimited WFH, and join standups from home. But for others, if you are late for standups for even a minute, then you are ruining the team culture. Micromanagement is at its peak for new joiners.
You can't complain about bad behavior or a provoking attitude from his favorites, who are not behaving like they own the company. I haven't seen any company where a director spends more than 50% of his time gossiping in his room about stocks and real estate.
You can't survive in this team by only doing work or maintaining a professional relationship. You need to constantly praise the director and engage in bootlicking to be able to survive in his team. Hats off to this company for still keeping him. Any other company, he would have been fired by now, like he was fired in his previous organization.
Complete negative and depressing team culture where everyone wants to leave this team as soon as 1 year gets completed.
