ServiceNow has the best in-market culture. The vibe of working here can only be understood once you join. Something or the other keeps happening, and your colleagues and managers will always be nice, helpful, and supportive. This comes right from the top management. In terms of growth, it is the best of both worlds: neither too sluggish for a typical corporate, nor too hustly-bustly like a startup. If you are hungry, you can grow well. There is good respect for how you want to keep your balance.
Note: Despite the long list of cons (because I felt it is important to raise them), for me, the culture and the vibe pretty much make up for it, and I would definitely recommend. I am just taking away one star from the rating. This is really an amazing and underrated company.
Engineering Specific Cons:
Lot of the App Engineering teams work on top of Platform and provided set of APIs and never get to understand the full aspect of the product development.
To rephrase the same: If you are in App Eng, you will get to design applications, but your design element will be platform-provided abstractions and recommended best practices, and not raw design components.
It's a SaaS product, and not a single or multitenant application, so there is less focus on scale.
Overall Cons:
Compensation is just better than average but not top of the market.
Benefits are not cash-oriented but more like subscriptions which not everyone uses. Example: Instead of health-related subscriptions, I feel people would enjoy it more if employees are reimbursed for the same amount and they can choose the services of their choice.
Pantry is good, but comparing with peer group companies, Lunch and Cab - two major benefits are missing.
Points mentioned in Cons can be worked upon.
HR contacted me and asked me to attempt an online HackerRank question. Upon clearing it, there was a lengthy Zoom interview. I was not able to clear it because I was not ready. I felt that I could have prepared a bit more.
It was a face-to-face interview. They welcomed me wholeheartedly. The interview took around 1 hour to complete. But it was a great experience.
A recruiter reached out about potential positions within the company. I spoke with the Director, and then had an interview with three engineers on the same day. I was called back in 30 minutes with an offer. The process was smooth.
