Process

There are many stages, and their order may vary. Typically, at Shopify, you start by talking to your HR contact about your life. This is not a complex interview, but it can easily indicate personality red flags if you're not prepared to be open.

The next round involves discussing your previous jobs, achievements, and immediate professional goals. This is your chance to shine if you have a great project to highlight.

The following round is very similar, focusing more on the context of the actual position you are applying for.

Next is a peer programming exercise. In my opinion, this is quite easy. They don't just evaluate your speed or knowledge; they also assess your capacity to react to immediate problems. They evaluate your approaches, compare them to similar ones, and it's also a space to discuss your strengths.

There is a problem-solving stage, which is purely talking and describing scenarios on how to resolve a problem. This is more to see how easily you can picture a solution, how you manage stressing variables, and your personality towards the actual problem, not the result.

At the end, you meet the director or manager you'll be reporting to, and you receive an answer via HR.

Questions

Questions can have too many meanings to list exhaustively. Ultimately, they are about your personality and what is evaluated most. Remember, they want to know who fits into their environment, as they are known for maintaining a very high vibe.
