I applied online after seeing the application on their website in July. Following that, I was invited for an initial call with HR around the first week of August. Subsequently, I was invited for a "life story" interview. This was an interesting round, though. They describe the process on their website.

After that, I was invited for a pair programming round with their developers. The coding round involved a very easy problem, and candidates could select their preferred language. I solved the problem within the first 20-25 minutes. Afterward, the interviewer seemed friendly, and we talked about the work at Shopify.

There was no update from Shopify. After two follow-up emails, they sent a message stating that a smaller group of people whose experience was a closer match to what the team needs right now would be invited further. Therefore, we won't be inviting you for further interviews at this time.

Here is what I found disappointing:

• Very slow response from HR.
• Even after really solving the programming challenge, they decided not to proceed without giving much reason.
• Had their developer not found me impressive, they could have concluded the interview after letting me finish my challenge.

It was about a sort list of products.
