Pros: Chance to work with the best and the brightest.
Corners are not cut: everyone's work is kept to a high technical standard.
Compensation and benefits are incredible.
Destination 90 perk allows you to work remotely while traveling the world!
Cons: Work is tough, and expectations are high.
Sometimes Shopify's scale creates too much red tape, and that can lead to frustrations.

Pros: - Lot of trust in each other.
- Room to be what you want to be.
- Tons of technical challenges.
Cons: If you do not like Ruby/Rails, that is not the place.

Pros: Compensation package is good (for now).
Cons: It's a company based on a personal cult around the CEO, who is a micromanagement control freak. The new senior management team also has the same style. It's detrimental to the long-term development of the company.
Benefits had been diminished since going "digital by default" (working remotely forever). The latest massive layoffs were handled very amateurishly. Good luck to those who were spared; it would be a heck of a job trying to pick up the work after all the good developers were let go.
