I applied online and heard back from them relatively quickly. The position stated 0-2 years of experience was required.
The phone screen interview followed, intended to gauge my motivations. I was asked general questions about my spare time activities. The call concluded with the feedback that I was considered inexperienced for the position and that they had already hired others with my level of experience.
Perhaps I sounded uninformed during the explanation?
I had read online that phone interviews were meant to assess conversational ability, and I hadn't expected to be judged on that aspect.
