Software Enginerring Manager Interview Experience - Flanders, New Jersey

June 1, 2015

Negative ExperienceGot Offer

Process

I submitted my resume and cover letter.

I received a call the next day to schedule an interview.

I had missed the call, and it went to my voicemail.

I called the Director back; he was rude and obnoxious.

I declined to proceed with the Skype interview as requested.

I really do not want to deal with a rude and obnoxious boss. If he's like that to someone he just met on the phone, what is he like as a boss?

Questions

Who is this?

Pros: Nice working environment, both facility and people. Very clean and respectful work environment. Compensation is competitive. Good benefits. Better than average vacation time depending on tenure. A lot of career opportunity, particularly if you are open for relocation.

Cons: Most departments are understaffed, and many employees are asked to cover unmanageable scopes. There's limited opportunity to advance within the same department due to certain corporate compensation policies. Certain managers are more interested in managing their own careers as opposed to managing the business.
