I applied for a senior position and received an email from a recruiter to schedule a phone interview. Three minutes into the call, she stated that I didn’t have enough experience for the senior position and that she could consider me for a mid-senior role. If that says anything, it’s that she never even read my resume. I didn’t call her out on that because, frankly, I wanted to apply for the other position.
Anyway, I reapplied later for the position she mentioned and had a phone interview with her that was very basic. I don’t know if that was her first day on the job or what, but she kept interrupting me to repeat myself as she was typing what I said. This resulted in me speaking in sentences and waiting for her to finish whatever she was writing. I’ve had my fair share of phone interviews and never encountered anything like that.
On the next day, I received an email to schedule another interview with a hiring manager. That main recruiter handed me over to other recruiters from a third-party company, who were as unprofessional as the main one. I had that interview a week later, and after that, there was complete silence. I didn’t hear back from the manager, the recruiters, or anyone. I really look forward to the day when HR or recruiters respect our time and effort and show some decency by simply getting back to candidates instead of ghosting.
