The interview process takes far too long, lasting between 8 to 13 hours to complete. This is disrespectful to applicants and is the reason I withdrew my application once I had another offer.
The process includes:
A 1-hour phone screen with the recruiter. While called a phone screen, it includes questions from the hiring manager, making it essentially a light interview. Applicants can be disqualified at this stage.
A 1-hour interview with the hiring manager.
A 2- to 6-hour take-home assignment. The time to complete varies depending on the assignment and the applicant's proficiency in the required languages.
A 4.5-hour in-person assessment.
There is no need for interviews to be so long. Interviews with Amazon and Google, which are heavily criticized for their length, only take 6 hours. There is no reason for this interview process to be longer than those at Amazon and Google.
I withdrew early, so I was only asked questions about my prior experience, why Slack, etc.
