I was contacted by their recruitment manager who invited me for a preliminary 30-minute Zoom call with two people from their engineering department. This was a "get-to-know-you" session with no technical test.
Afterward, I was contacted again and told the interview went well. The next step involved two technical interviews:
The pair programming session was good. I was given a draft PR beforehand to review, which allowed me time to identify potential improvements and issues. During the interview, we collaborated on changes and tested them live.
The system design discussion involved me presenting and diagramming a system I had previously built and was proud of. The interviewers interacted, challenged the design, and discussed my decision-making process. While challenging, it was less nerve-wracking to discuss work I was familiar with.
I was then contacted for a final culture fit interview with five members of management. We discussed the company culture, my reactions to different situations, and how I would align with Snyk's values for a safe and productive work environment.
Overall, the interview process at Snyk was one of the best I've experienced in my 20-year engineering career. Everyone was pleasant and respectful. The technical tasks were relevant and practical, unlike many other companies. Snyk's emphasis on culture and a safe, inclusive work environment was clearly a high priority. The positive atmosphere among colleagues was evident, making it seem like a great place to work.
I highly recommend applying there. Unfortunately, I had to decline for logistical reasons, but I wish I could have joined.
