I applied online for an avionics internship but was contacted for an interview with I&T. They emailed me, which led to a preliminary phone interview with HR. They went over basics, logistics, and a lot of intern-related details, though I hadn't received the job offer yet.
Next, I had a phone interview with my manager that lasted about an hour. It was very laid-back and not stressful. We joked around a bit, discussed my resume, and at one point were talking about Star Trek.
I heard back after about a week. The entire process took approximately three weeks.
Once I received my offer, I had one to two weeks to complete all necessary paperwork. This included a background check, which I passed. There was no drug test.
