The process also included two phone interviews (one with the hiring manager and another with someone in that role) and an on-campus visit. The visit consisted of a one-hour technical presentation and several interviews that lasted a full day.

I was invited for a tour of one of their lab facilities. The recruiter mentioned several times during the process that she heard great feedback about me so far. In the end, however, I did not get the position because "they didn't think my background was in line with the position."
