Process

The process took about six weeks. I applied online with only my resume. I received a phone call from a recruiter who passed my resume around, and I was being considered for multiple positions on the production side.

The first phone call was with the recruiter, who asked basic questions – nothing technical. I believe they wanted to gauge my enthusiasm for SpaceX and ensure I met the basic qualifications. The call lasted about 30 minutes.

Afterwards, I had phone interviews with different departments. These calls, also around 30 minutes each, focused more specifically on my role at my current employer. The major questions revolved around significant accomplishments and their technical aspects (e.g., statistical information, issues encountered and resolved, and my specific role).

I was then called in for a presentation, which involved discussing a project I worked on, a major problem I solved, and my thought process. Following the presentation, I participated in one-on-one interviews. These also featured questions about problems I had solved and industry-specific topics.

I thought I was a good fit, but it didn't work out. I will definitely try again.

Questions

If you had a dent in a pressure vessel, how would you repair it?

If someone drilled a hole in a pressure vessel too large, what fastener or pin would be used to allow for the same desired fit?

GD&T questions: If you had two plates with holes in them (in an array), what control features would you use to ensure that the plates were aligned?

If you had three light switches and three lights in the other room, and you could only turn on two at a time, how would you know which switches belonged to which light?

If you had a rock on a boat and you dropped the rock into the water, what would happen to the waterline?
