I submitted my application through their website, with no other platforms in between. I was contacted a couple of hours later to set up the phone screener.
It went well. I then took a short online coding quiz (no LeetCode here) and had the technical interview with a technical manager at SpaceX. This included some behavioral questions and some general questions about threads and networking basics. Following that, they had me execute a take-home assignment with a problem related to the position.
My performance in the technical interview was very average, so I appreciate that they still went ahead with the take-home test. A few days after that, I sent a short email asking for an update, and a few days later, I received the automated rejection email.
The technical interviewer asked a lot of pointed questions about the experience I had chosen for the behavioral questions, which I was not expecting. Had I gotten past the take-home test, I would have endured a presentation about the solution and a series of interviews with potential colleagues.
Overall, the process was quick and fair, and the two people I spoke to were courteous and professional.
Tell me about a time you made a mistake, and what did you learn from it.
