Process

I would like to be more specific and provide feedback on one of my recent interview experiences with Splunk in the SF Bay Area.

I applied through their website, and it took 2-3 days to receive a reply.

The Splunk recruiter who contacted me was an excellent person and was very efficient in arranging the interview.

Within a week, I had a phone screening interview. The interviewer asked me a LeetCode Easy level question, was very cooperative, and the interview went well. I was invited to the next phase, which involved six rounds of interviews (equivalent to onsite rounds, but conducted virtually).

Due to time availability, these rounds were split over two days (two rounds on the first day, four on the second). Ideally, I should have completed all six rounds regardless of individual outcomes.

The first day went well, with a minor technical glitch, but that interview offered very little feedback.

On the second day, I was fully prepared and had taken a day off from work. Just fifteen minutes before the interview was scheduled to start, I received a call from the recruiter stating they would put my candidacy on hold because my previous rounds had not gone well.

While I respect the interviewer feedback, I question the fairness of this interview process. I do not blame the recruiter; however, the interview panel or decision-makers lacked the patience to wait and let me complete the remaining rounds.

I have never imagined nor experienced such inconsistency and unpredictability in organizational behavior. Ironically, they may have saved me from a worse situation, which I believe would have been my outcome even if I had hypothetically been selected.

I advise others to thoroughly think about and assess how an organization values its people before applying.

In short, they seem to have no standard hiring or interview process, instead following their whims and fancies.
