A tech recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn in February, asking if I was interested in a Full Stack position (requiring 4+ years of experience). After I sent relevant details, I was shortlisted to complete a Karat pre-screening assessment. Karat is a third-party service that facilitates technical interviews on behalf of Splunk. I was told that if I cleared this interview, I would be invited for onsite rounds.

The Karat assessment contained two parts:

• 15 technical MCQs
• Technical Interview

After completing the MCQ assessment, I scheduled my Splunk-Karat Interview. The one-hour interview covered:

• Discussion and analysis
• System Design
• Programming challenge: Data Structures and Algorithms

I gave both an initial and a redo attempt. I believe I did significantly better on the redo attempt, as I was just getting used to this different type of interview in the first attempt. For DSA, you will be given two questions in one hour, and the expectation is to write fully functional code, run your program, and verify against the given test cases.

I had solved the first question completely. Although I gave the correct approach for the second question, I was not able to complete coding it because I took too much time debugging the first.

However, I did not hear back from the recruiter despite a couple of follow-ups. Perhaps they already found other deserving candidates.

Based on my experience, I would suggest scheduling and completing both Karat interviews as soon as possible to maximize your chances of progressing.
