I was contacted on LinkedIn by a Squarespace internal recruiter. We scheduled a phone interview, but I never received a call back. I had to reschedule it because the recruiter forgot to enter it into his calendar. A few days later, he followed up.
I had a HackerRank phone screen, merging two sorted arrays, which I solved. I then received an invitation for an onsite interview.
I took a day off to come in for a full-day, four-round interview. I passed all rounds, but it turned out they primarily run SQL queries for their transformations, which isn't really a big data application developer role, what I was looking for. So, I pretty much wasted my entire day because this position was not a match for my skillset, due to recruiter miscommunication.
Please ensure, when you apply for any position at Square, that you double-check the specifics of the position you're applying for. Also, remind their recruiters to enter meetings into their calendar applications.
After I received good feedback from all in-person interview rounds, the recruiter was supposed to get back to me regarding the next round. He messed up again, and his excuse was that he forgot to add it to his calendar, seriously? What are you getting paid for, dude...
Facepalm. At the end, I just gave up with this company and stopped following up with them.
