I was sent a coding challenge Wednesday evening, due by Friday at noon (with no extension). This was clearly an automated email, and the coding challenge was expected to take 3 hours. I found this very inconsiderate, especially considering on HackerRank it stated there was a week to complete it.
I took time out of my super busy, midterm-filled schedule to spend a couple of hours on this coding challenge and got 4/5 test cases working. I even took the time to make my code very modular and organized, and I received an email the next day saying they had "thoroughly reviewed" my background and then rejected me.
Considering I had applied for the role over a month ago and was then given 1.5 days to complete an assessment, this whole process felt very insincere. I'm truly disappointed in the process, especially after having spent 3 hours working on something.
